Gamer = Addict?

Recently I was reading the Toronto Star and was reading their Ideas section. Video games seemed to be there feature for the day so they had some interesting facts. One fact involved a study, the study came out with this interesting tid-bit; when showed in-game screenshots of various games the test subject showed the same reactions and brain functions as a drug addict. Funky stuff eh?
So continuing on with my addiction enhanced hobby, the Xbox 360 has been released at its whopping $500+ price tag. I say $500 because no one will buy the core system which doesn't have the hard drive. The reason, people aren't going to throw away hundreds of dollars in games just cause a next gen console rears its sleek manufactured head. Though the new Xbox may actually earn this price tag for its great graphics and stellar processing speed, but the games don't. The games feature about a $10+ increase over the older system games. As the game industry forges ahead tools are constantly being created for developers to utilize. The Xbox 360 features a very developer friendly devkit which should speed up the process, which is in addition to hundreds of other software programs that further shorten the development cycle. But I guess I should just suck it up and pay for the Xbox name like everyone else.

In game news recently I played both of the Starship Troopers demos and I have to say it is intense. If you were a fan of the original movie and the book you will appreciate this game. The game came out back on Nov.15 which I had not realized, I though it came out months ago and boy it has become beautiful and polished since I last saw it. The bugs are as fast, freaky, and relentless as they are in the movie. As well as preetty much being able to play through every major scene from the movie you have the filled out story from the book. I have to say this is one of the best book/movie games I have ever played or seen. I suggest you pick it up if you are a fan of the movie. If you are not a fan of the movie pick up for the sheer speed of the action.

Thats all I have for now. Until Next.
