Quaking in your boots for a 4th time
Quake 4 - 6/10
Meh, is exactly how I feel about this game. It was neither amazing or bad really. Graphics were that of Doom 3 since it was the same engine....even the enemies evaporated similarly...but at least the maker's of Quake gave a good explanation for evaporating bodies :P
Sound was fine..music was ok...the story was interesting but as with most FPS's it had little depth. Basically your fighting on the home world or a home world of the enemy...you fight, fight, get captured, converted, rescued, then fight, fight, kill a freaky brain, the end. whoo, did you feel the rollercoaster like movements of that story? no i didn't think so.
The enemies are decent and varied, they will have you going "oh shit" commonly. Your weapons for fighting...I felt at least....were lacking in power....I stuck to my basic machine gun, dark matter gun, rocket launcher and energy weapon...anything else was to slow or practically ineffective.
Hmmm what else...oh a nice difference from other FPS was the fact that alot of the time you had friends helping out...they are commonly more effective then yourself commonly being able to take even large enemies down with a headshot or two or a single melee strike...you heard me, a Single melee strike. I found it a nice surprise when in a room with 3 large badies that take 5 rockets each and Mr. Joe Blow walks up and with a single smack and brings down everything.
Basically I bought the game cause there is a lack of anything of true interest for me for the X360. If anything rent it...its not worth a purchase.
Until Next.
